1 DAY TRIP CHARAUDI – KURINGHAT WHITE WATER

We leave Kathmandu by 7am in the morning and drive the highway through Thankot, where there is a police checkpost – we will be greeted by hawkers with arrys of chewing gums and biscuits. Then we drive out of the valley and enter Khani Khola. The valley offers a panoramic view of a back country with terraced fields, rich greenery and thatched houses with smiling children, weaving hands. On a clear morning, we can enjoy the white capped mountain chains in distance, of these are the Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Himalchuli are the best to name a few. We stop at Naubise (26km) for few minutes and stretch our legs for further drive

From this point, we will be driving on the Prithivi Highway – at 200km that links Pokhara with Kathmandu. Built by the Chinese in late 60’s – the road runs all the way along river trail (Trisuli) passing a number of villages enroute. After 2 and half hours drive we reach Bhaireni, where we catch the first sight of river TRISULI. The river, where we are going to float later on. We continue to drive following the river until we finally stop at CHARAUDI after 3 hours drive. This is our raft – put – in – point.

The river Trisuli derives its name from the word TRISHUL the trident of LORD SHIVA. It drains down from Langtang glaciers in the Himalayas flowing past the township of Trisuli Bazzar in the Northern region of Kathmandu valley. It acts as one of the vital tributaries of river Narayani, which is being the largest in Central Nepal. Eventually, it merges with river Ganges in India.

After the raft is properly rigged, and the RIVER GUIDE (acting as a trip leader) will complete the talk on SAFETY PROCEDURES and hand over you life jackets, helmet, paddle boat or OAR boat (Oar boat is given when there is a family trips involving children) to all participants

Turning gradually to bolder rapids along with the change in the landscape as well. For your information rapids do increase in size and frequency as the current accelerates. Throughout the trip, we will be encountering several big and small rapids, which are @ TWIN ROCKS@ LADIES DELIGHT@ immediately after Ladies Delight we will go for the lunch at nearby beach. After a relaxed lunch, we will again start floating in the river, encountering interesting and exciting @MONSOON RAPIDS@ followed by a sequence of @ UPSET1 and UPSET 2@ rapid.

And according to Colorado River rating scale – these are rated from 3-6 river scale. For your information, the river rating is based on the Grand Canyon Colorado River Scale 1-8 (1 being the easiest and 8 the most difficult). Also all these rapids have their individual story behind. You can talk to your Guide about this

Now, coming towards the end of this day trip rafting – we will be given a good surprised by the rapid named @ SURPRISE RAPID @ the rapids do increase in size and frequency as the current accelerates. Once we are over this phase, we will encounter the CALM WATER section, where we can relax, have swimming, fun, sun-bath until we come to the last @BIJULI RAPID@ at KURINGHAT hanging bridge.

This will also be your coach/car/bus connecting place for your next destination like Pokhara/ Chitwan National Park and of course! Back to Kathmandu. As you are now standing at the busy tourists traffic – do not worry since there are many overland transportation running between Pokhara and Kathmandu.
