1 DAY TRIP BHAIRENI-GAJURI

The river Trisuli derives its name from the word Trisul the trident of Lord Shiva. It drains down from Langtang glaciers in the Himalayas flowing past the township of Trisuli Bazzar in the northern region of Kathmandu valley. It acts as one of the vital tributaries of river Narayani, which is being the largest in Central Nepal. Eventually, it merges with river Ganges in India.

We leave Kathmandu by 7 am in the morning and drive the highway through Thankot, where there is a police checkpost. While clearing the formalities, required by the police checkpost – we will be greeted by hawkers with arrys of chewing gums and biscuits. Then we drive out of the valley and enter Khani Khola. The valley offers a panoramic view of a back country with terraced fields, rich greenery and thatched houses with smiling children, weaving hands. On a clear morning, we can enjoy the white capped mountain chains in distance, of these are Ganesh Himal; Manalslu and Himalchuli are the best to name a few. We stop at Naubise (26 kilometres) for few minutes and stretch our legs for further drive. From this point, we will be driving on the Prithivi Highway – at 200 kilometres which links Pokhara with Kathmandu. Built by the Chinese in late 60’s – the road runs all the way along river trial (Trisuli) passing a number of villages enroute. After 2 and half hours drive we reach BHAIRENI where we catch the first sight of river TRISULI. The river, where we are going to float later on. At BHAIRENI which is our raft-put-in point – the raft is porperly rigged, and the RIVER GUIDE (acting as a trip leader) will complete the talk on SAFETY PROCEDURES and hand over you life jackets, helmet, paddle or OAR (Oar is given when there is a family trips involving children) to all participants. After this rafting trip will commence.

Everybody now paddling the raft and floating steadily on the river will be bit disturbed when they encounter @GIANG@RAPID – the first rapid of this float. One of the most satisfying aspect of this portion is the unhurried tempo, tranquility and beauty of nature. There are plenty of opportunity to explore and photograph the surroundings around. Continuing our float shooting through journey we further encounter big and small rapids, which are @SNAIL NOSE RAPID@. After passing the Snail Nose Rapid we will set forth in a expanded beach for the lunch of the day. Continuing our float, after lunch, we will be encountering few number of rapids – however, the most interesting and the famed one is @MONKEY RAPID @ among them. And according to Colorado River rating scale – these are i.e. scale of the river is rated from 3-6 river scale. For your information the river rating is based on the Grand Canyon Colorado River Scale 1-8 (1 being the easiest and 8 the most difficult). Also, all these rapids have their individual names and the River Guide gives you the related stories behind them. (so go for it). Finally we reach GAJURI. This is our raft-put-out point.

This will also be your coach/car/bus connecting place for your next destination like Pokhara/ Chitwan National Park and of course! Back to Kathmandu. As you are now standing at the busy tourist’s traffic – don’t worry since there are much overland transportation, running between Pokhara and Kathmandu
